We have had a blessed first two weeks of Lent, and I must say I am eager to see where the Holy Wind leads us in the coming months. Our Wonderful Wednesday discussion on the book Waking Up White, has been fruitful, honest, and buoyed by a growing self-awareness among those participating. For our forum this week, we will listen to an important voice (Kristina Keefe-Perry) in the ongoing spiritual practice of Creation Care. How can we better care for God’s world in the midst of human-made climate change?
Our Lenten Art Exhibit: Awakening is made up of art from YOU. If you have something you’d like to contribute to the exhibit, you still can. It’s another way to engage the Spirit’s movement, and begin seeing things around you through a different lens.
Lastly, I’d like to say a word of thanks. Every week you are confronted with the choice to participate in the life of this church. Thank you for the many ways you do so: your time, your resources, your talents, your enthusiasm, your honesty, your humility. We are continuing to see a growth in participation; midway through March, we’ve had 95 visitors in worship. Even more exciting, we have welcomed a whole new group of partners in ministry who have been feeling at home with First Baptist. Keep up the good and important work of welcoming, of getting to know one another, of giving yourselves to the mission of God in this world.
